The Mirror

An art work that is inspired by Korean literature.

I DESIGNED THIS INSTALLATION ART PIECE FOR kreate's exhibition for korean alphabet day 2016.

The concept of the exhibition was that creating art works that inspired by Korean literatures.
The one that I picked was 'The mirror' from a modernist poet, Sang Lee. Interestingly, him and I have a same name.  The poem is about an identity and he is consistently questioning himself about it. Also it shows some conflicts between me in the mirror and my true identity.

I think this is all about a projection of ‘1- a persona who is seeing(audience)’ versus ‘2- a persona inside of me(identity)’. I represent this situation by setting a decorated skull with the poem as a ‘2’ and viewer could see the ‘1’ as you are watching the artwork. So this actually makes you a part of the story by simply watching it.
